Luke 13: 6-9
"He spoke also this parable; "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came and sought fruit on it, and found none. Then he said unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none; cut it down; why cumber the ground with it?"
And he answering said to him,"Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung (fertilize) it: And if it bears fruit., well and good, but if not, THEN after that, will I cut it down."
Here we see not only a parable of God's love and mercy for each of us who dont' exactly bear fruit.. but
we also see the love the Creator has for an ordinary tree. The gardener pleads with the Master not to cut the tree down, Death of this tree is not an option for this gardener but only a last resort.
How much mankind needs to learn from this example.. of mercy and compassion , acknowledging the reality that trees are living beings who respond to love and nurturing. And with this love and nurturing , they give us their fruits, they provide shade and shelter , and they clean and detoxify the very air elements for all life.
