Jeremy Todd Johnson photographic complements

I love every picture and artwork I have seen on this website. It was in my 6th grade year that I saw this one picture of a walking wizard. I only saw it for a few short moments and could not seem to find it anywhere when I tried searching again. However, I vividly remembered every detail of the old man walking, and so, drew him down to exact detail. It fell out of my notebook in art class one day and my teacher gave me an extra A for a wonderful sketch and showing passion in my work. He encourag… Continue

cyndi Creative image hosting that is free and Eco Friendly

Recently I started a business that creates products from recycled material. We use all kinds of things from clothing to leftover wood. Any way I was researching the net for services that would help me promote my business with out costing me anything. I found several other businesses that promised you the world and then charged you for the country! I sell products from our site on etsy, craigslist, ebay, and so on and you all know that if your not on the top or on top of the game your not going t… Continue

Aleta M. One Month in Maine

I am spending a rainy windy day in my apartment in Acadia National Park. This is the first day I've just gotten back to some of those personal, internal intellectual activities I am so into in the winter: blogging, posting to favorite online groups about trees and forests, reading. I see that the weather on a northern coast island is beautiful and awful in the way winter is- blustery, hard to venture out into for long periods of time, beckoning one to curl up at home under a blanket. Kinda like… Continue

Aleta M. You're Invited...

I would like to invite the Primal Forest Network members to follow a blog that I write, from which I have drawn some of the material I have in my blog here. It is largely reflections on my experiences in exploring and reflecting on forests, tree and nature, in my life of exploring wild New England and also in my work as an ecologist. It does veer off into other topics as well, and is a personal, diary type blog. http://themusicwhichihear.blogspot.com/ Continue

Aleta M. Exquisite Moments in Old New England Forests

This spring, after a challenging time of looking for good work in the worst economy imaginable, I was so very fortunate to obtain my dream job. Of all that I applied for, this was the one I wanted. I am an ecologist, and my heart and soul as well as my intellect are passionately involved in trying to save our forests in the face of endless threats. So now, I am employed as the one primarily responsible for managing the health of plants in Acadia National Park. How great is that?? The move to Ma… Continue

Boldylocks My Experiences with the Faerie and Elven Ones

I've never believed faeries existed before.. really believed. I sort of believed, because I trusted everything had a sort of Guardian Angel, but I never saw one and was brought up that they were just fantasy ..like Tinkerbell. Then I met some Native American women on the Ning forums... each had thier own individual encounters and experiences with these Beings and both women were not flakes. I've been searching a closer connection with God in my life for years now.., even though my broken human… Continue

Aleta M. Tree Grief

Posted to the ENTS (Eastern Native Tree Society). It is the first time I wrote out my story of the ash tree in Bellbrook. Also includes a revision of a poem several years old. Robert Leverett, a authority on Eastern Old Growth, enjoyed the poem. One reply said, no doubt the tree speaks to you still. As a newer member of ENTS, I have been browsing many posts, and have been heartened by the blend of science, spirit, insight, and aesthetics I find here. It suits me just fine. I have been loathe e… Continue

Edward Frank Marion Brooks Natural Area, Elk County, PA

Marion Brooks NA is the kind of place where when you pull into the parking lot, you say “Wow!” In front of you as far as you can see are bouquet-like sprays of white paper birch trees rising above the snow covered forest floor. At first glance the paper birch trees are all that you se… Continue

Aleta M. Winter Unwired

Well the last few days have been spent in the aftermath of an ice storm: beautiful, glowing exquisite crystalline scenes rarely offered. I should probably describe the days more completely as beautiful, dark, brilliant, cold and quiet: the power went off for several days. And though my spirit was more than up for it, my body quickly because ill, fighting something, as I dealt with adjusting to limited warmth and then sudden extreme cold outside. I was happy to change my bedding and clothes, to s… Continue

Boldylocks The Fir Tree- A Han's Anderson Fairy Tale

The Fir Tree [1845] Return to Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales FAR down in the forest, where the warm sun and the fresh air made a sweet resting-place, grew a pretty little fir-tree; and yet it was not happy, it wished so much to be tall like its companions— the pines and firs which… Continue

Boldylocks Trees in the Bible: What it means to be a Gardener with Compassion

Luke 13: 6-9 "He spoke also this parable; "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came and sought fruit on it, and found none. Then he said unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find n… Continue

Boldylocks Samhein: Fall and Winter Rest

My father told my little nephew that Fall means DEATH. He said it in such a way that it sounded negative, and my nephew looked sad. Being the Boldy that I am, I HAD to speak up about that! "Don't listen to your grandfather, Peter", I said. "He's touched in the head right now". Fall means REST. The trees are going to sleep to rejuvinate for next Spring's growth. Their leaves will fertilize the ground like how vitamins nourish us. My nephew actually listened, and I knew he understood, while my fat… Continue

Boldylocks Tree Spirits

I've been reading Dora Van Gelder's wonderful book titled: "The Real World of Fairies: A First Person's Account". If you ever get the chance to order it from amazon.com, please do so. Dor Van Gelder was a clairivoyant woman who saw beings from other dimensions on this Earth.. She lived into her 90's and still kept a loving connection with them, as well as with the angels assigned throughout the planet who oversee Creation . She saw many various types of fairies from all the elements, and tree s… Continue

Edward Frank Significant Forest Patches

People, We are often faced with the question of what makes this patch of forest "significant' or mundane. Much of the focus of my Eastern Native Tree Society group is on large trees. but that is not the only factor we consider. What might these other criteria be that makes a patch of forest… Continue
